The 2018 Miss Spirit of Blossomtime Winner


The 2018 Miss Spirit Pageant was held on Saturday, January 20th at the St. Joseph High School Auditorium. Saturday’s pageant marked the sixth annual Miss Spirit competition which is held once all the communities have held their contests. It is open to all 1st runners up and offers one more young woman the opportunity to enjoy the many events and activities her sister queens will participate in. Miss Spirit will go on to compete in the Showcase of Queens awards (photogenic, modeling and commercial) at the Mr. Blossomtime and Showcase of Queens Pageant and is eligible to win the Bob Braamse Community Service award, the Queen’s Legacy scholarship, and the title of Miss Blossomtime Congeniality which will be awarded at the Miss Blossomtime Pageant. The 2018 Blossomtime Pageant will be held on March 11th and March 12th at Lake Michigan College, Mendel Center, in Benton Harbor. Nineteen contestants competed for the title this past Saturday. The People’s Choice award voted on by the pageant attendees, was won by Samantha Fischer, 1st runner-up to Miss Coloma.


Olivia Ziemer, 1st runner-up from the community of Hartford was crowned Miss Spirit 2018.  She is the daughter of Michelle and Robert Ziemer and a senior at Hartford High School.  Olivia plans to attend either University of Michigan or Grand Valley State University, entering the medical field to become a physician’s assistant.  Olivia will receive a $450 scholarship award and various gifts and prizes for being crowned Miss Spirit of Blossomtime 2018. Olivia holds a 4.0 GPA, is ranked #1 in her class, Academic Excellence Awards in all classes, DAR Good Citizen Award, Gold Award on ACT Work keys and 2-time Student of the Week. She has been class President for 3 years, 1-year Executive Council President, is a member of National Honor Society, Student Rep on Hartford Public Schools Board of Education, 4-year Varsity Soccer Captain, Competitive Cheer, Dance, Science Olympiad, Spanish Club and Pep Club.
