Alwin Jung, 89, passed away Wednesday, February 7

Alwin Jung, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at The Willows in St. Joseph.

 A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Brett Ehlke officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.  Alwin was born November 7, 1928 in the region now known as northwest Ukraine, to Reinhold & Natalie (Reinhardt) Jung. On June 11, 1958 he married Gertrud Duschner in Germany, he became a citizen of the United States in 1965. Alwin retired from Wollin Products in Stevensville where he worked as a tool and die maker for many years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church since 1970. Alwin was an avid soccer enthusiast who enjoyed playing soccer, watching weekly games with his daughter and rooting for Germany and the USA in the world cup soccer. He was a founding member of the St. Joe Kickers Sport Club. He enjoyed dancing with his wife as often as possible at local Oktoberfest’s. He expressed his love for his family daily and the affection he held for his close friends was shared over sips of Schnapps. His grandchildren will remember his countless bike rides to the park, stops at the donut shops and endless games of hide and seek after a long day at work.

 Alwin is survived by his son Reinhold Jung of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Brigitte (Stephen) Baydowicz of Tucson, AZ and Caroline Jung of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Baydowicz of Santa Rosa, CA and Morgen Baydowicz of Tuscon, AZ; great-grandchildren Audrey, Arianna, Ashlyn and Avalon and Alara Baydowicz all of Santa Rosa, CA.

 Alwin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gertrud and brother Adolf Jung.
