Arthur “Butch” Albert Gench, 82, passed away on Tuesday, July 4

Arthur “Butch” Albert Gench, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Market St., St. Joseph, with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Lory’s Place. Arthur was born on January 11, 1935, to Albert & Emma (Shuck) Gench in Berrien Springs. He graduated from St. Joseph High School. Arthur proudly served in the United States Army and enjoyed sharing his memories of his time of service once he returned home. He worked as a Floor Inspectors for Modern Plastics, retiring after more than 20 years of service. Arthur was also a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching old movies and cheering on the Detroit Tigers.

Arthur is survived by his nieces and nephews, William (Diane) Grabemeyer, Kim Cobble, Donald (Donna) Grabemeyer, Kathy (Kurt) Lundberg, Robin (Joseph) Ross, David (Peggy) Grabemeyer, Susan Grande, Laura Eisbrenner, Denise Eisbrenner, Marie Eisbrenner and Christine (Jason) Roland; many great & great-great nieces and nephews; special friend Jackie Meyers; and the helpful staff at Caretel Inns of Lakeland.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ruth Eisbrenner, Harry Gench, Frederick Gench and Doris Grabemeyer.
