Arthur O. Wolske


Arthur O. Wolske, 87, of Eau Claire – formerly of Benton Harbor, MI, passed away on Thurs., July 23, 2015 at the Battle Creek Veterans Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MI.

Arthur was born on December 21, 1927 in St. Joseph, MI to Otto and Mary (Kublick) Wolske. He was a 1946 graduate of Coloma High School. Arthur served his country during the Korean War from 1950-1952 as a medic in the U.S. Army. On June 19, 1953 in Benton Harbor he married Else Schuler. Arthur was a lifelong fruit grower and worked the winter months at Avion Coach Corp. He always loved a good conversation, and in his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking, painting, the outdoors and especially tractors. He was also a lifelong member of the German Church of God. We would like to thank the staff at the Battle Creek VAMC for all of their care.

Art is survived by his wife of 61 years – Else of Eau Claire, MI; his two children – Roland Wolske of Eau Claire, Connie (Dale) Wolske-Hubbard of Portage, MI, and Ron Schuler of Winnepeg, Manitoba, CA; five grandchildren – John and Alexa Hubbard, Brigitta, Stefan and Corina Schuler; sister-in-laws Ilda and Helga Wolske both of Benton Harbor; and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents-Otto and Mary, three brothers-Alvin, Eric and Orland, a sister-Anita Ellis, brother-in-law Jerry Ellis, and sister-in-law Hildegard Wolske.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tues., July 28, 11:00 A.M., at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, with Rev. Siegfried Schuler officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph, MI. Friends may call on Mon., July 27, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
