Barbara was born on June 14, 1933, in Logansport, IN, to Douglas, Sr. & Thelma (Lowe) DeMuth. On June 26, 1954, she married the love of her life, James Baity, in South Bend. Barbara worked for Berrien County for 27 years. She held many roles, including being the first female Director of Tax Equalization, she retired in 1993. She was a proud member of the Child Study Club, an avid volunteer at the hospital, church & school, and drove the bus for the Lincoln Senior Center. Barbara enjoyed playing Bridge, Pinochle, cooking, and traveling to various countries and all of the states (except to Delaware because “there is nothing there”- James Baity). She had a passion for investments and, some would say, was a gardener of money.  Barbara was always the Belle of the Ball with a larger than life personality. Her humor and kindness will be missed dearly by all. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Woodland Terrace staff for the above and beyond loving care they provided to their mother during this most difficult time.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (James) Darr of Stevensville and Ginger (Kevin) Kunst of St. Joseph; and grandsons, Brandon and Eric Darr. Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Baity; parents, Douglas, Sr. & Thelma (Lowe) DeMuth; and brother, Douglas DeMuth, Jr.
