Benton Harbor Shooting 5/18/2017

PRESS RELEASE
 
On 05-18-2017 at approximately 6:30PM, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Main and McCord in the City of Benton Harbor to investigate a call of a shooting. BHDPS officers responded and found a man had been wounded by gunfire. The man was taken to Lakeland Hospital, where he is being treated. The victim is identified as 38-year-old Dondrell Blackamore of Benton Harbor. Mr. Blackamore is the business owner of M&M Garage which is located at this intersection.
Officers are following several leads and are questioning several people, there has not been any suspect identification yet however. The suspect was described to arriving officers was a black male dressed in black that ran East from the scene. There was a burgundy minivan in the area of this incident as well that may be related to this incident.
The investigation is being conducted by the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety, Michigan State Police Major Crimes Unit, and Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.
This investigation is ongoing and more information will be provided as it comes available.
