Billie L. Coffman, 93, passed away January 29, 2019

Billie L. Coffman, 93, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Park Place Assisted Living in Kalamazoo.

 

A celebration of life eternal service will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Chase Jackson officiating, assisted by Pastor Mike Schoeplein.  Private burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville.  Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Billie was born March 18, 1925, in Whitney, Texas, to Oliver & Elizabeth (Vance) Howell.  On June 28, 1947, she married James Coffman in Lubbock, TX.  After moving to Southwest Michigan, Billie faithfully served with her husband Rev. James Coffman at Niles Road Community Church in St. Joseph for many years.  She volunteered at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor and at Birthright in St. Joseph.  Billie was a member at Road to Life Church in St. Joseph.  She enjoyed activities at the assisted living which included listening to music and making crafts for her great-grandchildren.  Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.  

 

Billie is survived by her children – James W. Coffman of Camden, TN, Raymond Coffman of Georgetown, TX, Charlotte Coffman of Portage, MI; five grandchildren – Sharlee Coffman-Cook (Benjamin Cook), Chase (Chelsea) Jackson, Christina Coffman (DannyVerbrugge), Hunter Coffman, and Logan Coffman; seven great-grandchildren -Blythe, Lilliana, Silas, Mitchell, Reed, Billie, and Pierce; her sister-in-law Ann Coffman of Slaton, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Billie was preceded in death by her husband Rev. James Coffman on February 13, 2007, and her daughter-in-law Olivia Coffman in 2016.
