Carl E. Payne

Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home
In memoriam of Carl E. Payne, 01/15/1965 - 09/02/2014

Carl Payne, 49, of Benton Harbor, passed away Tuesday morning at home with his wife Ronda, sister Kathy, brother-in-law Eddie and sister Gina present.

Carl was a local musician whose love of music began when he ten years old. He performed throughout this area at such venues as The Buck Burgers & Brews, Tosi's, Rivers Edge, T.J's Sports Bar & Grill, 12 Corners Winery, Round Barn and Sarrett Nature Center to mention but a few. He also played at festivals, weddings, corporate events and for patients in local long term care facilities.

Carl was an avid birdwatcher and spent much of his youth at Sarrett Nature Center learning from Chuck Nelson. Woodworking was another passion of Carl's, building celtic harps, mountain and hammered dulcimers, bowed psaltry and even an electric guitar. He was a multi-talented musician and played all of the instruments he built.

Carl was a member of the City of David for 15 years where he worked tirelessly on building maintenance. He also used his carpentry skills doing home repairs and modifications for his many friends and family.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Crystal Springs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Sarrett Nature Center.
