Charlene LaVonne (Baker) Taylor

Charlene LaVonne (Baker) Taylor, 86, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 in Winter Haven, Florida.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, September 19, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph, with Pastor Harris Hoekwater officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at GAR Cemetery in Watseka, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home. Charlene was born on November 5, 1927 to Lavan & Irene Barker and spent her early years growing up in Milford, Illinois. She enjoyed many years of traveling across the country with her husband Bud in their motor home before becoming winter residents of Florida. They also spent many weekends on the Taylor Homestead in Watseka, Illinois, where they could be seen entertaining their grandchildren. Charlene was an avid Bridge player and participated in a variety of card clubs throughout the area.

She is survived by her son E. Allen (Vivian) Taylor III of Orlando, together with their children Kristin, Shannon and Erin; and her son Scott (Debra) Taylor of St. Joseph along with their children Seth and Ceanne (Adam) Wienner. She is also survived by her brother Richard Barker.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Allen “Bud” Taylor, Jr. and granddaughter Lauren.
