MORE THAN 850 IN ATTENDANCE AT ST. JOSEPH’S 6th ANNUAL DOWNTOWN CHILI TOUR, SJHS CULINARY TEAM WINS CHILI PEPPER AWARD AND BISTRO ON THE BOULEVARD WINS PEOPLE’S CHOICE

On Friday, Jan. 26, over 25 downtown businesses competed for the Chili Pepper Award during the 6th Annual Downtown Chili Tour. According to the Welcome Center visitor log, more than 850 visitors participated in this year’s festivities and enjoyed a wide array of chili, sweets, and more. Two awards were up for grabs this year. They included the Chili Pepper Award determined by a panel of judges and the People’s Choice determined by popular vote. This year’s Chili Pepper Award went to the SJHS Culinary Team of Logan Borah, Daniel Okonski and Ali Koehler for their “Netflix and Chili” featured at Caffe Tosi. The Bistro on the Boulevard, Sous Chef James Galbraith won the People’s Choice Award for his “Kimchi(li)” served at Baroda Founders Tasting Room. For the fourth year in a row, the event also featured a charitable give back through a $2 suggested participation donation. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Soup Kitchen in Benton Harbor.
