Dancing With the Symphony Stars 2018 Winners Announced


On Saturday, May 12th, the fifth annual  Dancing With the Symphony Stars, an auction fundraiser supporting the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, was held with eight celebrity dancers from the local community - Amy Bleich Heugel of the LakeHouse, Whirlpool’s Brett Lutz, Christina Frank from Cornerstone Alliance, Primart’s Kurt Marzke, Becky Spicer of 1st Source Bank, Laura Starks of Starks Family Funeral Homes, St. Joseph Public Safety Director Brian Uridge and Megan Yore of Lakeland Health. The dancers worked for weeks to compete for three awards: a “People’s Choice Award, “ aided by votes before the event from friends, family and the general public, the “Judges’ Choice Award” for excellence in dancing, and the top “Mirror Ball Award” which combines audience member voting and judge scores.


The SMSO is excited to announce the following winners for its 2018 Dancing with the Symphony Stars competition:

The event was additionally supported by the talents and time of our dance instructors: Art Downey, Christin Adams, Carolyn Rabbers and Jake Wilson, our emcee Bill Downey, our auctioneer Dan McCrery and our celebrity judges: Danielle Colby, Jerry Price and Heather Kendrick.


With over 300 guests and hundreds of auction items from local businesses, the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra would like to express its deep appreciation of the tremendous support this community provides. Proceeds from this fundraiser allow the SMSO to further its mission ofTransforming Lives Through Music.
