Daniel Aaron Uland, 92, passed away Monday, January 29

Daniel Aaron Uland, 92, of Stevensville, MI passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles, MI.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 9, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph with Pastor Tom Bird officiating. Friends may visit with the family before the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial with military rites will immediately follow the service at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Daniel was born June 21, 1925 in Vincennes, IN to Claude and Helen (Lamb) Uland. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Daniel married the love of his life, Mary Louise Swettenam, in Vincennes, IN on April 10, 1949. He was a career veteran in the United States Airforce serving in WWII, Korea and Special Operations in North Viet Nam traveling to and seeing many places of the world. He retired after a second career at Whirlpool as a Sr. Chemical Engineer. Daniel was an avid supporter of Purdue Basketball, enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, stamp collecting, traveling and camping with his beloved family.  

Daniel is survived by his daughter, Judith (Robert) Wolf of St. Joseph, MI; son, Daniel (Patricia) Uland of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Lindsey (Brian) Smith of Granger, IN, Christopher Uland of Indianapolis, IN, Matthew Wolf and Michael Wolf both of San Diego, CA and great-granddaughter, Kira Uland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lou; daughter, Janet Uland; granddaughter, Kimberly Wolf and sister, Nancy Napier.
