Darlene D. Vergot, 80, of Stevensville, MI passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 at West Woods of Bridgman.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 P.M. Friday, May 15, 2015 at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Rd., Stevensville, with Rev. B. Gordon Barry officiating. Friends may visit from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Darlene was born May 2, 1935 in Russell, Arkansas to Clyde and Eva (Cole) Harding. On October 24, 1953, she married Peter Vergot, Jr. in South Bend, Indiana.  They owned and operated Vergot’s Farm Market in Stevensville for many years.  Darlene enjoyed working with the flowers and plants at the vegetable stand and she loved meeting new people that would come to visit, especially the children.  Darlene was proud of her southern roots and cherished the times of growing up in Arkansas.  She felt that she was blessed more than any one person could want.  Darlene had a deep faith in God and her church was her sanctuary.  She loved cooking, baking & canning, and she was known for her famous Sun Pickles.  Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her.

Darlene is survived by her four children, Dr. Pete (Cheryl) Vergot, III of Tallahassee, FL, Judi (Ed) Krager of Stevensville, Jeffery Vergot of Hammond, LA, Anthony (Kari) Vergot of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, Kelly (James) Cady of Mason, MI, Elyn Krager of Stevensville, Petra (Stephan) Rogers of New Buffalo & Jeffery Vergot, Jr. of New Buffalo; great-grandsons, Gavin and Gabriel, and one great-granddaughter on the way; siblings, Florene Smith of Bridgman, Martha Dover of Bridgman, Wanda (Bob) Smith, of Stevensville, Nancy Hill-Smith of Bridgman, Alford (Carol) Harding of Stevensville, Rex (Brenda) Harding of Bridgman; brother-in-law John (Donna) Vergot of Stevensville; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Peter; brothers Wesley, Ted, Pete & Bud Harding.
