Detectives Disrupt Crack Cocaine Trafficking Group in Benton Harbor

 

On Monday, June 4th, 2018 members of the Southwest Enforcement Team, with the assistance of Michigan State Police, and Berrien County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant in the city of Benton Harbor.

 

Ashley Wooden (40) was arrested following a 4-week investigation into the distribution of cocaine.  SWET Detectives began an investigation after several complaints were made by the public to the SWET office.  During the execution of the search warrant detectives located approximately ¾ of an ounce of cocaine, two semi-automatic handguns and other items related to the trafficking of illegal drugs.  

 

Wooden was arrested and lodged at the Berrien County Jail on the following charges:

  1. Possession with intent to deliver cocaine
  2. Felony firearms
  3. Felon in possession of a Firearm
  4. Maintaining a drug house

 

 

On Tuesday June 5th, 2018 members of the Southwest Enforcement Team, Michigan State Police, Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, and Benton Township Police executed a search warrant at 1257 Vincent Court in Benton Twp.  Officers located Korey Ballard (24), and Tevin Lewis (27) inside the home at the time of the search warrant.  Ballard was lodged at the Berrien County Jail on 5 counts of Delivery of Crystal Methamphetamine and a probation violation.  Lewis was lodged at the Berrien County Jail for Delivery of Crystal Methamphetamine and Resisting and Obstructing Police. 

   

The Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) is comprised of sworn law enforcement personnel from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Barry County Sheriff’s Office, Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, Kalamazoo Township Police Department, South Haven Police Department, Covert Police Department, and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
