Donald “Don” Richmond, 89, passed away on Thursday, February 15

Donald “Don” Richmond, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 15, 2018.

Don was born on July 27, 1928 in Benton Harbor to Howard & Marie (Pulver) Richmond and was the youngest of four children. He was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School in 1946, and then went on to attend Olivet College and receive his Bachelor’s Degree. Don then went on to serve his Country in the United States Air Force from 1950 until he was honorably discharged in 1954. He inherited a love of nature and animals from his mother. One of his great pleasures in life was singing with his fellow barbershop enthusiasts. He sang with many groups throughout the years and continued to pursue his passion for singing up until his death. Don was always quick to smile and reveled sharing a good laugh.

He was loved by many family members and is survived by his daughter, Anne Marie, his son Don, and his granddaughters Jillian and Valerie Kohorst.   He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and the friends he cherished so. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Russell, Robert and Valerie (Gelder). and longtime companion Beverly Faraone.
