Eloise F. Scheffler

Eloise F. Scheffler, 92 of Coloma passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at her residence.

Eloise was born October 23, 1923 in Sodus to Edward and Elsie (Froehlich) Herman.  In 1946 she married Gustav Scheffler and together bought their farm home in 1950 where they grew fruit and vegetables until they retired in the late 80's.  They always had a large garden, sharing it's bounty with many others after retirement.  

As an active member of Salem Lutheran Church she was part of the Alter Guild, Ladies Aid, and Choir.  She will always be remembered for her "special dessert" for church dinners.  Eloise and Gus were members of the Kicker's Club in St. Joseph and now she and Gus are dancing once again.

Eloise is survived by her children; Deanna (Doug) Heminger of Coloma, Kathy (David) Veverka of Florence, S.C., Gus (Mary Ellen) Scheffler of St. Joseph, and Linda Northrup of Coloma.  Also surviving are two sisters; Margaret Bernard of Stuart, FL, Joyce Strunk of Tavares, FL; one brother Ervin Herman of Jackson, WI; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband of 55 years until he passed away in 2002; her parents; two brothers, Richard and Edward; her sister, Loretta and her granddaughter Mollie Heminger.

Services will be held 11:00 am Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in Coloma.  Burial will follow in Millburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 pm at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. 

Donations in memory of Eloise may be made to Salem Lutheran Church or the North Berrien Senior Center.
