Francis J Huling, 97, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Saturday September 29, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the funeral home with Rev. Marlo Fritzke officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs on Monday, October 1st at 11:00 A.M. Francis was born June 24, 1921 in Berrien Springs to Orville & Estella (LaMunion) Huling. He was raised on the family farm and farmed until 1955. He graduated from Berrien Springs High School, Class of 1939. On December 21, 1940, he married the former Nellie Zukowski. Francis served his country during WWII in the US Army in Europe. After farming, Francis gained employment as a foreman at Industrial Machine, before joining Clark Equipment as an experimental machinist, and later a precision machinist at Parish Tool & Die. After the death of Nellie in February 1990, he married the former Ruby Phillips on August 24, 1991 in St. Joseph.

 Francis was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Joseph and formerly attended Oronoko Methodist Church and Lakeshore Church of Christ. He enjoyed spending time with Ruby and took great pride in their home, lawn and gardens. He enjoyed playing bingo at the St. Joseph-Lincoln Sr. Center and their daily visits to their Meijer Coffee Group. In earlier years he enjoyed traveling the country with their group of friends. He led a very active life and it has been a testament to his longevity.

Francis is survived by his wife Ruby; four children-Sandra (Richard) Huling Hursh, Sharon (Ronnie) Huling Meadows, Kathy (Mark) Huling Hawks, & Francis James “Jim” (Sally) Huling; step-son Jimmy (Leona) Phillips; nineteen grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Orville & Estella Huling; first wife Nellie, a great-grandson Aiden Wood, two brothers-Elton & Maynard Stover, and his sister Kathryn Stover Walker.
