Glenn “Dewey” Ransom, 71, passed away Monday, July 2

Glenn “Dewey” Ransom, 71, of Sodus, MI passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at Medilodge of Portage in Portage, MI.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Dewey was born October 4, 1946 in St. Joseph, MI to Elwyn & Dorothy (Koern) Ransom. He graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1964. Dewey served his country proudly in the United States Air Force as a Communication Specialist. Dewey worked as a Merchant Marine Assistant Engineer for over 30 years maintaining diesel engines for tug boats throughout the Great Lakes. On June 24, 2000 he married Jackie Smith in Sodus, Michigan. Dewey was the Past Master of the Coloma Lodge 162 and a member of the Lakeshore Lodge 298. Dewey was also a member of the Stevensville American Legion and the Watervliet VFW Post 1137. In his spare time, he enjoyed building cars and motors that would scream.

Dewey is survived by his wife Jackie Ransom; children Jessica (Jay) Dixon, David Dahn, Edward (Maria) Dahn and Patricia (Joseph) King; daughter-in-law Ashlea Ransom; grandchildren Ray, Jacob, Caleigh, Rory, Nic, Aubrey, Kaitlyn, and Thomas Glenn; brother Douglas Ransom; and sisters Becky (Dan) Bowden and Polly (Don) Burnside. Dewey was preceded in death by his parents and son Jason Ransom.
