Gordon K. Schoenfeld

 

Gordon Karl Schoenfeld, 79, of Hartford passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Haven, MI. He was born August 30, 1934 in Benton Harbor, MI to Fred and Margaret Schoenfeld.

Gordon grew up in Millburg MI, graduating Coloma High School. He attended Michigan State, and M.I.T. where he majored in engineering. After college he worked for Michigan Bell Tell, and Clark Equipment of Benton Harbor until retirement at which time he ran Schoenfeld Manufacturer in Millburg a company started by his father, designing and manufacturing farm implements, and racing parts.

Gordon married Elizabeth Stokes, Donoho on December 14, 1991 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ where he was a member.  Gordon loved racing, enjoyed keeping up with his Nephews, and grandchildren in all their endeavors.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, 5 Step children Steven (Chris) Bailey, Michael (Vicki) Meachum both of Hartford MI, Larry (Lori) Munyon of MacClenny FL, Debbie Slaght of Stewart FL., John (Michael) Bailey of Northridge, CA, one brother Donald (Susie) Schoenfeld of FT. Smith, AR, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 2 nephews Douglas (Missy) Schoenfeld and Dennis (Bonnie) Schoenfeld.

He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Margaret Schoenfeld, a sister Donna Schoenfeld.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph with Pastor Miryam Hammond officiating. Burial to follow at Millburg Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 20, 2014 at the funeral home.
