Helen M. Letke, 91, passed away Thursday, January 25

Helen M. Letke, 91, of Benton Harbor, MI passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, on the corner of Colfax and Kline in Benton Harbor with Pastor Jeff Bolwerk officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the time of service Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Helen was born on August 5, 1926 in Benton Harbor to Elmer & Daisy (Koch) Northrop. She attended Benton Harbor High School. On October 23, 1946 she wed Paul Letke in Benton Harbor. Helen kept a busy schedule caring for her home and her children. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post # 137. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and working in her garden.

She is survived by her son Eugene “Gene” (Connie) Letke of St. Joseph; son-in-law Tom Polus of Deluth, GA, grandchildren, Tanya Beach of Coloma, Shawn (Crystal) Saffell of Benton Harbor and Michelle (Nicholas) Haggart of Elkhart; great-grandchildren, Crystal, Allison, Amanda, Joshua, Brayden and Kaleb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 69 years Paul in 2015, daughter Patricia Polus in 2005 and siblings Edward, Evelyn and Arlene.
