James D. Bartalone Sr., 94, passed away on Monday, November 27

James D. Bartalone Sr., 94, of St. Joseph, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017, at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 10AM, at St. Bernard’s Church, 555 East Delaware, Benton Harbor, with Father Ben Huynh officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 5PM until 7PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to SS. John & Bernard Parish. James was born on October 11, 1923, to Anthony & Frances (LaMonaca) Bartalone in Coloma. He attended Hager Shore #6 Schools. James served in the Army during WWII. He worked for Whirlpool Corporation before his retirement. James loved to hunt, fish and grow vegetables in his garden. He was a member of the Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Benton Harbor-St. Joseph Elks Club.

James is survived by his children, Francie Wyatt of Woodstock, GA and James Bartalone Jr. of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Jimi (Melissa) Williams, Joshua (Brett) Wyatt, Cody Bartalone and Kyle Bartalone; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Emily Williams; first wife Lorraine Koeppen; and sister-in-law Jean Bartalone.

James was preceded in death by his parents; children, Gina Rider and Toni Shindeldecker; and siblings, Rose (Pete) Monte, George Bartalone, Frances (Frank) Provenzano and Joseph (Helen) Bartalone.
