Joan M. Hohnstein

Joan Marie Hohnstein of Stevensville, Michigan transitioned from the loving arms of her family and friends to the loving arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on May 13th.  Her undeniable walk with the Lord was both a blessing and inspiration to anyone in the wake of her loving spirit.

Joan began her 78-year life on August 2, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, born to Salvatore and Josephine Malpede. Her marriage to Morris “Moose” Hohnstein in 1982 and wonderful life with him proved the perfect fulfillment of her heart’s desires. Their many travel adventures together provided a lifetime of happy memories.

Joan worked inventory control in the beer industry for 14 years.  Her best work however, clearly was her service to the Lord with Women’s Ministry team at the First Church of God. She was happiest when coordinating and leading Just for Joy, BSF, as well and countless other Bible studies in her home. She blessed many with her gift of hospitality.

How she loved us all: son David (Kathy) Krajecki – Colorado, daughter Karen (John) Hubben – North Carolina, step-children Mike (Cindy Rae) Hohnstein – Michigan, John Hohnstein – Minnesota, Val (Jeff) Crafts – Michigan, her brother Salvatore (Shirley) Malpede Jr. – Illinois; eight grandchildren: Alissa Powers, Brenna Cline, Alex Hubben, Alicia Sedillo, Kevin Hohnstein, Jessa Hohnstein, Elise Crafts, Nicole Crafts; great-grandson: Turner David Cline.

There will be a celebration of Joan’s life at 11 AM Saturday May 16th at First Church of God – 2627 Niles Ave, St. Joseph, MI 49085 with visitation starting at 10:30. Please consider memorial donations to Hanson Hospice Center 4382 Cleveland Ave. Stevensville, MI 49127, where Joan received the best of care and love.
