John R. Riccio, Sr., 84, of Coloma, MI passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Lakeland Medical Center St. Joseph.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph, with Father Thomas McNally officiating. Burial to follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. John was born June 24, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Joseph & Katherine (Scoleri) Riccio. He graduated from St. Rita High School in 1949. He went on to attend Elmhurst College where he received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. On April 7, 1951 he wed Bertha Arthur in Chicago, IL. John worked as the bookkeeper of the family business Three Oaks Wrecking Co. for 40 years before he retired.  For the past 10 years John was a teacher at Lake Michigan Catholic High School where he taught Geometry and Algebra. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and in his spare time he enjoyed painting and gardening.

He is survived by his sons Robert (Donna) Riccio of Coloma, Joseph (Karyl) Riccio of Millburg and John Riccio of Chicago; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; brother Lawrence Riccio of Chicago and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Bertha on August 18, 2001, grandson Joseph Riccio in 2000 and brothers Joseph Riccio and Augustin Riccio.
