KRASL ART FAIR ON THE BLUFF CALL FOR ARTISTS & JURY DAY 2019

THE PUBLIC IS INVITED TO WITNESS THE 2019 JURY SELECTION PROCESS

The 58th annual Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff (KAB) is accepting artist applications! It is, once again, ranked as one of the top 20 art fairs in the United States by Sunshine Artist Magazine, and one of the top 50 for artist sales by Art Fair SourceBook. The KAB is a great opportunity for working artists to connect with passionate buyers in the heart of southwest Michigan. Artists may submit their application until January 31, 2019 thru ZAPP (https://www.zapplication.org/event-info.php?ID=7045)For more information about the KAB visit krasl.org/art-fair/artist-information. 200 artists will be selected to participate in the 2019 Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff on July 13 & 14 in Lake Bluff Park in St. Joseph, Michigan.

For those who cannot wait until art fair weekend, Krasl Art Center (KAC) is excited to invite community members and prospective artists to observe the 2019 jury process at Art Fair Jury Day, held for the first time on the Mendel Center Mainstage at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Be a part of the audience on Wednesday, February 27 between 9 AM - 5 PM as jurors review artist applications.

Jurors play an important role in selecting works that elevate KAB to such heights. KAC is excited to announce the professional panel of jurors who will score applicant submissions. With over 900 applicants for 2018’s fair, this process is no easy task! The panel reviews four images of each artists’ work and one of their booth. They score the grouping as a whole to select the final 200 invited artists. KAB 2019 jurors are Israel Davis, Professor of Fundamental Formative Arts, Central Michigan University; Randall Higdon, fine art painter;Judith A. Hayner, Project Director of the newly formed Muskegon City Public Art Initiative and Muskegon Museum of Art Executive Director (Retired); Marilyn Schanze, art collector, public arts advocate and former gallery owner specializing in Caribbean art; and Michael Hill, writer/researcher/ artist at the Jane Addams Research Center in St. Joseph, and docent for Krasl Art Center’s K-12 Understanding Art Program.
