Lavada “Vada” Gaise

Lavada “Vada” Gaiser, 80, of Stevensville, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at her home.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Private family services will be held. Burial will take place at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society. Vada was born May 20, 1934 in Texas to Otis and Dorothy (Hanks) Peterson. On November 17, 1958, she married Robert F. Gaiser, Sr. in Albuquerque, NM. Vada and Robert relocated to Stevensville, where they lived in the same home for 48 years. She was a member of Niles Avenue Baptist Church. Vada was an artist and she enjoyed gardening. She cherished spending time with her family around a dinner table filled with good food. She loved her devoted and loyal canine friend Boo Boo, who guarded her night and day.

Vada is survived by her son, Richard (Lori) Gaiser of Berrien Springs; daughter, Dottie Lynn (Bill) Kelm of Baroda; two grandchildren, Misty (Jeremy) Watkins of Benton Harbor & Robert F. Gaiser III of Stevensville; three great-grandchildren Noah, Annabella and Bradley; and siblings Linda (Ted) Small, Robin (Kay) Clifton and Jasper Peterson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert F. Gaiser, Sr. on April 14, 2008; parents; son, Robert F. Gaiser, Jr. in 2005.
