Leonard Steinke, 74, passed away on April 16th

Leonard Steinke, 74, of St. Joseph, MI passed at his home on April 16th, 2018.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Starks & Menchinger Funeral and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Friends and family may visit prior to the service at 5:00 PM. Inurnment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Leonard was born September 8, 1943 in Dowagiac, MI to Henry & Norma (Witkowski) Steinke. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1961. He served his Country in the United States Army from 1961 until 1963. Leonard worked for the City of St. Joseph water and parks department as well as LECO corporation as Group Leader Final Instrument Assembly. Leonard was a kind and fun-loving person who enjoyed playing with the kids at family events. Whether it was throwing them in the pool and doing hand springs off the diving board or having them play hide and seek with the dog. Leonard also enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing and animals.

Leonard is survived by his daughters Kimberly (Cory) Branch and Kris (Chris) Carson; grand-daughters Chelsea (Matt) Brandt and Katie Kapp; grandson Duke; great-grandchild Lucy Brandt; sister Ruth (Steinke) Trotsky and husband John Trotsky; sister-in-law Linda Steinke; nephews David Steinke, Darold (Pam) Steinke and Mike Klug (fiancé Sandra Harper); and Nieces Donna (Aaron) Arndt, Tami (Mike) Genovese, Sharon (Carl) Warren, and Lisa (Jay) Ammons, Friend Dr. Robert Kraff. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley Klug, brother Robert Steinke, brother-in-law Edward Klug and close friend Linda Kraff.
