Loismarie was born in 1929 to Arthur Fredrick Watts and Lila Mae (Carpenter) Watts. Lois graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1946. On June 27, 1948 she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Charles R. Edinger. They had an undeniable love story for 67 years until Charles preceded her in death in 2015.

In 1949 Charles joined Roy Anderson as the sole employee of Anderson Building Materials. In 1962, Charles and Lois purchased Anderson Building Materials and together they grew the company. Eventually both of their sons and grandson joined the business. After Charles’s death, Lois became the CEO of Anderson Building Materials and served in that position until her passing.

In her earlier years, Lois worked at Mercy Hospital as a lab technician. With 2 young sons, Lois decided to stay at home to raise them. She enjoyed being a den mother for the Cub Scouts, a member of the Mercy Memorial Auxiliary, PTA and the Benton Harbor Band Association. She and Charles were long time members of Methodist Peace Temple and later transitioned to St. Joseph First United Methodist Church.

Lois was a very strong and independent woman who loved her family unconditionally. Her family was her pride and joy and she was an amazing wife, mother and behind the scenes business partner. Her legacy will live on through her teachings of how to raise a family and how to live your life. She showed us by example, what it meant to be a good parent and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charles and Lois enjoyed their annual trips to Hawaii and many cruises with friends.

But their happiest place on Earth was Disney World. They enjoyed spending time wandering the parks and they shared that joy with their family.

Lois is survived by her sons, Greg (Marian) Edinger of St. Joseph and Jack (Cathy) Edinger of St. Joseph; Grandchildren: Ryan (Carly) Edinger of St. Joseph, Kristin (Michael) Ritter of Okemos, Michelle (Kyle) Karnes of Byron Center, Jaclyn (Cody) Froehlich of Grand Rapids. Great-Grandchildren: Owen and Evie Ritter, Luke and Julia Edinger, Olivia Karnes. Extended Grandchildren: Lisa (Lars) Borre-Olson, Mathew (Lauren) Borre of St. Joseph, Kathryn Borre of Denver, Colorado. Extended

Great-Grandchildren: Cody, Annalise and Sophia Olson, Landen, Layla and Mathew Borre.

Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents and her brother Jack Watts.

We would like to thank the caring doctors and nurses at Spectrum Lakeland Hospital, and the wonderful staff at Pine Ridge for the great medical care they provided.

Loismarie was a very classy lady and will be sorely missed, but she will live forever in our hearts.
