Mabell K. Whitley

Mabell “Mae Belle” Whitley, 77, of Stevensville, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Benton Harbor Church of Christ, 1495 E. Empire with Minister Rusty Stark officiating.  Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma.  Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.  Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home.  Those wishing to share a memory of Mabell online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.

Mabell was born on March 2, 1938 in Little Fork, MN to Earl and Clara (Roster) Curtis.

She married Samuel Whitley on February 28, 1958 in Muskegon, MI.  She enjoyed her crafts and volunteering her time for others. Mabell was very loved, and she loved everyone.  She was very nurturing, always caring for others.  She truly was a beautiful soul.

She is survived by a son, David Whitley of St. Joseph; daughter, Mariann (William “Bill”) Stillwell of St. Joseph; grandchildren Jonathan, Joshua, Joseph, Jacob and Jalan Whitley; great-grandchildren, Jordin and Maylee Whitley, Layla Scott; a special grandson, Michael Ruiz; sister, Shirley Richards of St. Paul, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Mabell was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandchild Jeremy Whitley; brother Bud Curtis; and sisters Dorothy McClellan and Helena Cure.
