Matthew Koch, 37, passed away February 16, 2019

Matthew Koch, 37, of Berrien Springs, passed at his home on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 22, 2019, at 10:30 AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph.  Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. A prayer service will be recited at 7:00pm on Thursday. Matt was born on October 7, 1981, to Wayne & Helen (Bartley) Koch in Morristown, N.J.  He graduated from Lake Michigan Catholic High School. Matt continued his education at Holy Cross College where he earned his Associate Degree and then he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Francis University. During his life he enjoyed participating in Boy Scouts and becoming an Eagle Scout. Matt was in IT and could fix, rewire or rebuild any computer. On July 7, 2017, Matt married Alicia (Anglin) Koch in Berrien Springs, and gained 2 step-children. Matt loved spending time with family and friends, and building LEGO’S and playing Pokemon with his “Best Pal”, Roman. He also enjoyed sailing and golfing in his spare time.

 

He is survived by his wife Alicia Koch; two step-children, Roman Boling and Gwen Gulliver of Berrien Springs; parents, Wayne & Helen Koch of St. Joseph; grandmother, Mary “Bubba” Gonne; two sisters, Liz (Sean) Miller of South Bend, IN and Mary (Mark) Braat of Grand Rapids; and a niece and nephew, Sophia and Connor Miller.
