Dale E. Miller, 93, of Coloma, passed away Thursday morning, March 8, 2018, at Borgess Medical Center of Kalamazoo after a quick bout of pneumonia.

Dale was born in Benton Harbor, MI to Charles and Lucy Miller on Aug 24, 1924.

He married Celia Inbody on April 5, 1958, at the Scottdale United Methodist Church in St. Joseph.

Together they raised 5 children.

Celia preceded him in death (2010) after 51 loving years of marriage.

Dale's family moved from Benton Harbor to Muskegon when he was young.

He graduated from Muskegon High School in 1943. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Navy where he served aboard the USS Haley #DD556 destroyer in WW2.

He was honorably discharged in 1946.

He then went to college on the GI bill, studying Agriculture at Michigan State College (predecessor to MSU).

After graduation from college, Dale worked at several different companies, while establishing his farm, transforming vacant property into productive orchards.

Finally he was able to realize his dream of being a full-time fruit farmer.

He sold most of his crops fresh market, at the Muskegon Farmer's Market and later at several Chicago area markets.

He retired from farming in 1999.

One of Dale's joys was walking thru his woods early in the spring searching for hepaticas.

He also loved camping and canoeing, and cutting firewood to heat his home. Dale was a lover of music and played Oboe through High School and in the MSC Marching and concert bands.

He loved classical music, and enjoyed attending live opera.

Dale also sang in the church choir.

Family members left to cherish his memory include: his children Wayne Miller of Coloma, Marie Snow of Monroe, Rita (Michael Hubbard) Miller of Stillwater, OK, Roger (Barbara) Miller of Coloma, Cathy Baldwin of Farmington Hills; grandchildren Abigail & Daniel Snow, Anna & Sarah Hubbard, James Miller, Jon & Karen Baldwin;

2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Dale was preceded in death by his brothers Lyle and Keith Miller, his sister Vivian Womaski, and son-in-law John Snow.

The Rev Sue Greenwood will lead a memorial service celebrating his life at 11:30 on Saturday March 17, 2018 at the First Congregational UCC, 182 S. Church St., Coloma, MI
