Rick A. Carpenter, 57, of Benton Harbor, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, February 4, 2018.
Rick was born in Dowagiac, Michigan on August 3, 1960 to Amy and Frederick Carpenter. He was a carpenter by trade who owned and operated Carpenter's Construction. He was talented as a contractor and took value in his work and his relationships with his clients. He could fix or build anything. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and woodworking. Most of all, he loved being "papa" to his grandkids and spending time with them.

Rick is survived by his wife Lorrie; his children Kurt Carpenter and Kelly (Dale Jr.) Gaston, both of Coloma; his mother Amy Stickney of Benton Harbor; two brothers, Robert Carpenter and Jeffrey Carpenter, both of Benton Harbor; his sister Star (George) Bolt of Dowagiac; step sisters Janet Burke, Ann Stickney, Carol Stickney and Kay (Bill) Stickney-Dine; two grandchildren Kelsie & Bentley Gaston and his best friend Jack Bultema.

He is preceded in death by his father Frederick Carpenter, step-father Norman Stickney and brother Randy Carpenter.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma with visitation beginning one hour prior at noon. Burial will follow at Coloma Cemetery.

Memorials in Rick's memory may be made to Berrien County Cancer Service, Hospice at Home or Lory's Place.
