Walter A. Hartman, 93 of Coloma passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Battle Creek.

Cremation has taken place.

A memorial service with Military Honors will be held 1 pm, Saturday, April 7 at the Watervliet Free Methodist Church.

Walter was born October 28, 1924 in Owosso, Michigan to Hubert and Isabel

(Hogan) Hartman.

Following high school he joined the Army and after being held as a Prisoner of War, was honorably discharged, April 12, 1946.

While serving during WWII he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, M1 Rifle Expert, WWII Victory Medal, "2" Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Medal which was presented to him from the King of Belgium in 2004.

Walter was a member of the National

D.A.V.- Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge and the Antique Auto Club of America. In his free time he loved going to garage sales and working on projects in his pole barn.

Walter is survived by his wife Elnora, whom he married Sept. 23, 1956; a daughter Victoria Betty (David) Nichols of Kingsley,

Mich, his son Richard (Leesa) Hartman of Coloma; six grandchildren, Ryan (Colette) Nichols, Rachael Nichols, Jon (Lisa) Morton, Chad (Casey) Hartman, Vince Hartman, Cameron (Haley) Hartman, and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Walter was preceded in death by his brother Loren Hartman.
