Michael Russell Krieger, 71, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at home with his family by his side. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday December 15 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Michael Roth officiating.  Cremation will follow the service.  Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. Mike was born January 27, 1944 in St. Joseph to Russell & Frances (Baum) Krieger.  He graduated from St. Joseph High School, Class of 1962.  On April 25, 1964 he married the former Glenda Hanshaw at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph.  Mike was employed for forty-one years at New Products Corporation in Benton Harbor, retiring in 2005.  After retiring from New Products, he was employed at NAPA Auto Parts as a parts delivery driver which he truly enjoyed for over 8 years.  Mike had served as a Boy Scout Leader and volunteered as a Junior Achievement Instructor, and a minor league baseball coach.  In his free time he enjoyed bowling and golf.  Mike kept his keen sense of humor until the very end.

 

Survivors include his wife Glenda; two daughters-April (Rollie) Longacre of Grand Rapids, Beth Hoard of Stevensville, a son Kevin (Julia) Krieger of Benton Harbor; five grandchildren-Aaron (Julia) Krieger, Kara (Troy) Warren, Crystal (Tracy) Followell, Alexa Hoard, Claire Moore; four great-grandchildren-Liam, Owen & Adrina Krieger,  & Zephyr Followell; his mother Frances Krieger of St. Joseph; his brother Richard (Pamela) Krieger of Knoxville, TN; his sister Patricia (Charles) Kunert of Oregon; very special cousins Larry & Jean Cook; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Russell in 1992 and an infant grandson Collin Longacre in 1991.
