Phyllis Thumm, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at Pine Ridge Nursing Home in Stevensville.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Market St. in St. Joseph with Pastor Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 3, 2014 at Starks and Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Phyllis was born September 18, 1932 in St. Joseph, MI to Arthur & Anna (Knuth) Radde. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1951. On September 4, 1954, she married Jimmie Thumm in St. Joseph. She worked at A.B. Morse as a secretary for three years, but most of all, she was a homemaker who kept a busy schedule, caring for her family. She was a life time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she also taught Sunday school and was a member of Ladies Aid and L.W.M.L. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with family and grand children. She also enjoyed baking, especially her banana bread with chocolate chips.

Phyllis is survived by her son David (Mary) Thumm of St. Joseph; two daughters Karen Thumm of St. Joseph and Linda (Dennis) Babechenko of Frankenmuth, MI.; four grandchildren Jason (Rachael) Storm of St. Joseph, Aaron Thumm of St. Joseph, Niklas Babechenko of Frankenmuth and Noelle Babechenko of Grand Rapids; great granddaughter Rhiannon Storm; two sisters-in-law Donna Radde and Joan Radde of St. Joseph; and many nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Eunice & Gloria Radde, and two brothers Robert “Bob” & Raymond “Ray” Radde.
