Richard, aka ‘Tiny’ and ‘Brownie’, L. Brown, 77, passed away on Thursday, March 8

Richard, also known as ‘Tiny’ and ‘Brownie’, L. Brown, 77, of St. Joseph, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, March 12, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Arul Lazar officiating. Visitation will take place from 2-4 on Sunday, March 11 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with a Prayer Service at 3:30 PM. Burial will take place in Spring Run Cemetery at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association or the Diabetes Association. Richard was born on November 1, 1940, in Benton Harbor, MI to the late Richard and Dorothy (Peters) Brown. After graduating from Lakeshore High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy. On March 12, 1964, he married Jeannette Martin in Long Beach, CA. Richard retired from Cook Nuclear Plant. He was a lifetime member of Stevensville Legion, Post 568. Richard was an avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed deer hunting with his cousins and goose hunting with his uncle. Richard also liked his morning coffee and breakfast groups. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, going to the grandchildren’s events and taking them to the fair every year.

Richard is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Jeannette; children, Richard Brown, Todd (Shelley) Brown and Carrie Ann (Samuel) Aleman; brother, Fred Brown; sister, JoAnn (Garry) Roberts; grandchildren, Jessica Brown, Bryana Tomes, Jerred Zielke, Lukas Zielke, Erin (Henry Turner) Aleman, Nathaniel Aleman and Kathleen (Byron Weiss) Aleman and seven great-grandchildren
