SMSO Announces Independence Day Concert

Where is the best seat in the house on July 4th? It’s at a Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra Independence Day Celebration at Shadowland Pavilion, Silver Beach County Park, Michigan. Not only will you hear a live orchestra performing American favorites, but you get a front row view of the thunderous fireworks display as a finale to the evening.

Gates open at 5:30pm for a 6:00pm performance by the Van Dyke Revue, a four piece band from Niles with a playlist that includes classic rock, folk, blues and country. Members are John Van Dyke (vocals, piano, guitar, violin), Dave Van Dyke (guitar, vocals, Mississippi Saxophone), Wayne Kuritz (bass, vocals), and Bo Martin (percussion, mandolin, vocals).

The featured performance of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra begins at 9:00pm. Selections  include patriotic and contemporary favorites and finish with a rousing performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, Sousa marches and fan favorite The Star and Stripes Forever timed to the fireworks overhead.

Bring a lawn chair, stretch out on a blanket, take advantage of reserved seats, or a reserved table of 10 for the evening. Food and beverages will be sold at the event with no carry-ins permitted. Please note, the no carry-ins rule is a change from previous years. Food vendors include the BajaGringo Taco Truck, Louie’s Red Hots Chicago Style Hot Dogs and The Ice House. Ticket prices range from $5-$25/$300 per table of 10 in advance, all prices $5 higher the day of the concert.
