Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra Announces New Series at the Acorn Theater

The Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra announces a new concert series, “SMSO Presents” at theAcorn Theater in Three Oaks, MI. The series introduces hourlong programming on early Sunday afternoons in February and March. The series will feature smaller ensemble and solo performers in this more intimate venue.

 

SMSO Executive Director Sue Kellogg says of the new series, “We are very excited to create this series as we are always looking for ways to expand musical options in the region.  CIA President Bob Beemer brought Acorn Theater Executive Director Sandra Thompson and me together for some brainstorming and it took off from there.  It’s been great to meet and plan our series with her. I am really looking forward to this new partnership.”

 

The inaugural series event on February 10, 2019 at 2:00pm, is titled, “That’s Amoré! An afternoon cabaret of Arias & Love Songs” and features Paul Mow, Tenor, and Joshua Goines, Piano, with vocal guests Meredith Best George, Kacie Colleen Mercer and  Abby Murray Vachon.

 

The next series event, “From Ragtime to Rock ‘n Roll,” will be on March 24, 2019 at 2:00pm, and showcases the talents of Composer/Pianist/Silent Film Accompanist/Educator Dr. Larry Schanker. Dr. Schanker will share a mixture of original music, and eclectic arrangements of pop, jazz, ragtime and rock ‘n roll music.

 

Light snacks will be included in the ticket price and a cash bar is available at the venue. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by visiting www.smso.orgor at the door.
