St. Joseph First United Methodist Church is presenting a lively and family-friendly production of "A Christmas Carol – The Musical" in their sanctuary December 21-23. Performances take place Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 4:00 p.m.  The church is located at 2950 Lakeview Avenue in St. Joseph, Michigan.

This beloved Christmas story follows the life of Ebenezer Scrooge and his change of heart, from "Bah Humbug" to "God Bless Us Everyone."  The cast and live orchestra are comprised of people from the congregation and the community.  Dan Maxon, a well known local actor, plays Scrooge with Steve Smith as Bob Crachit and Avery Burt as Tiny Tim.  The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future are portrayed by Megan Yacobozzi,Kevin Clark and Beth DeCoursey, respectively.  The engaging music is by the Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken who wrote the scores for "The Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast" and "Aladdin."

“The most beautiful thing about this show is seeing people from the church and local area coming together to create something special and truly capturing what the spirit of Christmas is all about,” said cast member and Director of Youth Ministries Will Flaherty.

St. Joseph First UMC first presented “A Christmas Carol – The Musical” in December, 2015, as a Christmas gift to the community. This year’s production includes the same people in three pivotal roles:  Jay Donley as Director, James Kraus as Conductor, and Dan Maxon as Scrooge.

“We love providing quality musicals to the community,” said Rev. Dan Colthorp, “We hope people will come see how Scrooge’s life is transformed with the help of three ghosts.  It’s a show that is sure to touch hearts.”

Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. There will be a free will offering taken and complimentary refreshments offered during intermission.  For more information, go to
