William “Bill” F. Early, 87, passed away on Saturday, September 16

William “Bill” F. Early, 87, of St. Joseph, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Pine Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at 1pm at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Robert Pruitt officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 A.M. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Bill was born on April 18, 1930, to William & Minnie (Kimmel) Early in Hazel Park, Detroit, MI. He attended Jonesville Community High School where he played football. He graduated from Tri-State College in 1955, where he earned his Business Degree and also attended Notre Dame University. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952. On July 26, 1952, he married Patricia Hays in Coldwater, MI. In 1969, Bill moved his family to St. Joseph where he started working at St. Joseph Savings & Loans and worked his way to becoming the banks CEO. Bill’s favorite past time was spending time with his family and every year he’d take them on a family vacation to Mackinaw Island.

Bill always had a love for animals and with his love he helped finance the Humane Society in Elkhart, IN. He enjoyed woodworking and had a passion for all Notre Dame Sports and was a Detroit Tigers fan.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Patricia; children, Marc Early of St. Joseph, Scott (Mary Sullivan-Early) Early of Stevensville and Lynne Early of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Stevens Sullivan-Fellows of Stevensville, Casey Sullivan-Fellows of Grand Rapids and Ethan Sullivan-Fellows of Denver, CO; and great-granddaughter Ava Lynn Sarno.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
