Delores Jean Hall


Delores Jean Hall, 68, of Dowagiac, MI, passed away at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MI.


Delores was born in St. Joseph, MI on March 28, 1947 to the late Orville and Esther (Krieger) Baldwin. Delores loved spending time with her granddaughter Sarah. In recent years Delores spent much time at Wahoo’s Restaurant in Dowagiac, where she had many a meal and befriended the owner and staff and became family with them all. Delores was an avid WWE fan, especially John Cena;  a huge shopping fan on QVC; and loved coffee and cats. Delores loved dancing with her sisters in their younger years, especially the twist; and also enjoyed drinking fuzzy navels and bloody mary’s.


Delores is survived by her sisters – Hannah Grissom of Stevensville, and Lela Elliott of St. Joseph; a brother – Ronald Baldwin of Coloma; her companion – Larry Varney of Dowagiac; a granddaughter – Sarah Varney of Benton Harbor; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death is a sister-Linda Higgins and brothers-Orville, Jr., Alfred and Walter.


A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 24, 1:00 P.M., at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Visitation will precede the service on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor, MI.
