Race for Rare Kids

On September 7, 2019 in downtown St. Joseph, MI will be Race For Rare Kids, a 5K race and a 1K Kids Dash that celebrates all abilities and developmental differences! The race is an inclusive event where participants can run, walk, or roll depending on their mobility needs. The race starts at Margaret Upton Arboretum and follows the city-approved route to Silver Beach and turns around at Lions Park beach. The pre-registration is $25 including a t-shirt and race bib. Registration after August 24 is $30. The 1K Kids Dash is $10 and $15 the day of the race. Registration will open in mid-July.

Proceeds from the event benefit the rare disease foundation, The TBCK Foundation, which benefits children born with the rare neuro-genetic disease, TBCK syndrome. Only discovered through research in 2016, the intense disease causes intractable epilepsy, intellectual disability, and profound developmental disability. The TBCK Foundation was founded by a local family who has a two-year old son battling TBCK syndrome. By supporting the TBCK Foundation, funding goes directly to research, in order to begin to understand the disease with the hope for interventions, treatments, and someday, a cure.
