Carol Ann LaVicka Wright Dickerson Obituary

Carol Ann LaVicka Wright Dickerson was born to Joseph and Mildred Roth on December 25th, 1946. She was born a Christmas baby. Carol attended St. Peter’s Catholic school and then graduated from Saugatuck High in 1964. After graduation she attended Michigan State University and studied horticulture.
Carol helped her family out on the farm where she got her love for plants. She would help plant blueberry plants and other things for the garden. This is also where her love of animals came from. She learned how to raise animals and plants for food. She learned how to store things and how to can from her parents.
Her love for music was something she carried on throughout her whole life. She loved the old rock n roll error with Elvis Presley and Janis Joplin planning many times in the house. She often would tell her children how she grew up in the time of listening to the Lone Ranger on the radio and years later was able to watch the show on a small black and white television set.
Shortly after college she got married and started a family. She was a homemaker and worked at Heinz Pickle factory in Holland, Michigan. Her family was complete after she had three girls. Carol moved south to the Three Oaks area later in life and she worked at the Feather Bone Foam factory. She also worked cleaning houses for people and doing odd jobs to make extra money.
Carol’s hobbies were many. She liked to cook, can vegetable and garden, and play with her dogs, paint, and work on cars, tend to house plants, and also crochet a lot. She would always make hats or blankets for people. She loved to sew and mend things as well. She could take a pattern and do just about anything that you wanted. Everything she made always had something small and special just for the person she made it for.
Carol spent her last years at Royalton Manor. She was well liked by many of the nurses and staff. Quite often you would find her sitting in her wheelchair in the community room listening to music or watching the television. She loved watching any type of animal shows or detective shows. Many times she would sit at the nurse’s station and tell them when it was time to prune the trees or when it was time to plant. Although she struggled with Dementia she still was able to spin a story and many loved listening to her.
Carol went to meet her savior on February 21st, 2025 at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph J. LaVicka and Mildred Roth LaVikca. She was also preceded by her daughter Sondra Kay Wright and her Uncles Joseph J. Roth and George Roth. She is survived by her daughters Jeani Hesse of Saugatuck, Michigan and Andrea Dillion of Illinois. There are seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A private service will be held at a later time.
