Dennis Wayne Mort Obituary

Dennis Wayne Mort, of Covert, MI, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 27th, 2021.

Dennis was born on September 15th, 1964 in Watervliet to Roy Charles Mort and Mary Francis (Berry). He was proud to be a Watervliet Panther and graduated in 1984. Upon graduating, Dennis went to Lincoln Tech and graduated as a diesel mechanic. Soon afterwards, Dennis went to work for Laborers Local 355 and worked there for many years. Dennis was a proud supporter of unions and loved to see his “brothers” working. On August 29th, 1987 Dennis married the love of his life, Rhonda Wutzke. They enjoyed their 34 years of marriage by having four wonderful children.

Dennis and Rhonda welcomed their first child, Sarah, in October of 1991. The couple quickly realized the joy of bringing life into the world. In July of 1996, Rhonda and Dennis welcomed their first son, Jacob. A little more than two years later, the couple welcomed their second daughter, Hannah. In 2003, Rhonda and Dennis welcomed their baby boy, Noah. Raising his four children was the true light of Dennis’s life.

Dennis was also proud to be an Opa to his grandson, Ryker. He loved to push him in his baby swing, and watch him recently take his first steps. Dennis also loved his potbelly pig, Penelope. They shared a very special bond and would listen to classic rock together. Dennis and his son Noah shared a love of the Detroit Tigers. You could always find the two of them listening to Jim Price and Dan Dickerson on the radio, or watching the Tigers on TV. Dennis and Hannah loved to watch all kinds of superhero movies and shows together, especially the Punisher.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, and his son Jacob Mort. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda, and his three children, Sarah, Hannah, and Noah, and his grandson, Ryker.
