"Fly Me to the Moon" a Tribute to Frank Sinatra will be presented at the Mendel Center at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor on September 11th at 8pm. Featured are the Lake Effect Jazz Big Band, Andrew Fisher, vocalist, and the Citadel Dance Company. The 8pm show will feature two sets from the Sinatra songbook. Audience and performers alike will be on the Mainstage in a “jazz night club” atmosphere. Frank Sinatra was known for creating memories for his audience, young & old alike, from big band numbers like “New York, New York” and ballads like “My Way”.  At the Citadel we pride ourselves on being able to share the wonder of music and dance with our students and our community at large. This fundraiser premiered in 2019 to celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the Citadel Dance & Music Center. The Lake Effect Jazz Band is a 22-piece big band led by Steven Reed, a well-known area performer and retired music educator. LEJBB, in its 20th year performs 10 summer concerts and is the headliner at the South Haven Jazz Festival on September 18th. Andrew Fisher, a Southwestern Michigan native teaches voice at the Citadel, leads the Andrew Fisher Quartet and performs everything from opera to jazz. The Citadel Dance Company is Citadel’s premier dance ensemble led by Lari Lawrence-Gist, Director of Dance. Cash bar, snacks are included with admission and small plates will be available to purchase.

The Citadel Dance & Music is a 5013c non-profit and provides year-round dance and music instruction to 300 students. The Citadel is located in the historic Benton Harbor Arts District. Its mission is to inspire a sense of excitement and curiosity and to instill the disciplines of dance & Music as Art forms and a way of life.
