Harry D. Sundman, 85, passed away on Tuesday, May 22

Harry D. Sundman, 85, of Stevensville, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 12PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Ferney Revels officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10am until time of service at the funeral home. Harry was born on October 8, 1932, to Harry & Lillian (Anderson) Sundman in Escanaba, MI. He attended Escanaba High School before he was enlisted to serve in the Navy. Once he returned home, he married Marilyn Gillem on August 12, 1952 in Elkhart, IN. He worked as a Heavy Machine Operator for Michigan Local 324 for 45 years of service before his retirement. He also pastored at the United Pentecostal Church in Sault Ste. Marie, MI for 12 years. Harry was a member of the Operating Engineers 324 Union and attends Safe Harbor Church. He enjoyed gardening roses, working outside and hunting. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family.

Harry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn Sundman; children, Sue (Keith) Schuemann of St. Joseph, Sharon (John) Hammons of Portage, Michael (Beth) Sundman of Polo, IL, and Joel Sundman of Kalamazoo; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister Christine (Dave) Howard of Coloma.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Lillian Sundman; children, Peggy Davis and David Sundman; and siblings, Don Sundman, Lee Sundman and Doug Sundman.
