Janet McFall, 72, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at her home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Dr. Christopher Noffke officiating. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private burial will be held Monday at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Janet was born January 6, 1942 in Goshen, IN to Ivadelle (Shedore) & Warren Schmuhl. She graduated from Elkhart High School in Indiana. Janet married her high school sweetheart on August 19, 1961 in Elkhart, IN. Together they had two daughters. While Janet raised her daughters she also worked at various jobs from hospital lab technician to administrative assistant to print shop manager at St. Mary’s College. While her daughters were in high school Janet enrolled in Lake Michigan College and after five years of taking classes part-time she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science in 1984. Janet then worked in Information Systems for both Heath/Zenith and Whirlpool Financial Corporations, advancing from Computer Programmer to Applications Manager over 18 years. She retired from Whirlpool Financial in 2000 only to return to the workforce part-time with Ameriprise Financial Services where she worked until her passing. Janet enjoyed reading, bowling, spending time with friends and family at her lakefront cottage, and socializing with her “Bridge Ladies”.

Janet is survived by her husband of 53 years, Terry McFall of St. Joseph; daughters, Lisa (James) Thompson of Portage, MI, and Laura (Donald, Jr.) Lucker of Stevensville; grandchildren, Ryan (April) Lucker, Jeremy (Erin) Lucker, Keith Thompson, and Kristi Thompson; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Molly Thompson; siblings, Cynthia (William) Burger, Gayle Mason, and Kathy (Greg) Carlson; mother-in-law, Hazel McFall; and brother-in-law, Ronald (Diane) McFall.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
