Jilda “Jill” Verna Trumbley announces her passing on July 31st 2018

It is with great sorrow that the family of Jilda “Jill” Verna Trumbley announces her passing on July 31st 2018.  There are no words to describe the loss felt by those who knew her nor a way to count how many lives she’s touched.  She was born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI on November 16th, 1944 where she later met her husband James Alfred Trumbley.  They were married on April 24th 1965 and remained married until Jim’s death in 2005.  They moved their family to Saint Joseph, MI where they made a life together and raised four children.

She was a beloved snack bar lady within the St. Joseph schools for over 20 years.  She was also well known within Lakeland Hospital working in patient transport for 15 years.  She was a devout member of the St. Joseph Catholic Parish where she was often overcome by the love she felt for God.

Her family was not only her life but also her favorite hobby.  She took full advantage of her four children living within 5 miles and made her rounds to visit everyone.  She enjoyed a sweet cup of coffee at any time of day.  She was proud of her Italian heritage and cooked her homemade spaghetti sauce for days before getting the whole family together to enjoy it.  She was a night owl and could often be found enjoying a midnight Hallmark movie.  She loved Elvis and felt his loss as much as anyone but never stopped enjoying his music.  She enjoyed dressing up in elaborate costumes every year for Halloween.  She celebrated every holiday and life milestone by sending out thousands of personalized cards over the years signed in vibrant colored ink by her and her immediate family. She loved a good bargain so much that her oldest granddaughter thought she lived at Meijer. She could find a use for anything.  Her lively presence was known throughout the community, and she found a familiar face almost everywhere she went.  She was a loving mother to more than just her children, a hip G-ma, and a compassionate friend who always put everyone’s needs ahead of her own.  Since her passing the amount of people that have stated “she was my second Mom” is hard to fathom.  Lovingly called Jilda, Jill, Mom, Grandma, G-ma, Jill-Mar, Big Jill, Jilliebean, she knew that she was truly loved.

Jill is welcomed into heaven by her husband, James Trumbley, her father and mother, Warren and Genevieve (Russo) Toler, and her brother, Jerry Toler, as well as many family members and friends who passed before her.

She will be remembered here by her children: Scott (Janet) Trumbley, Carrie (Terry) Green, Jim “Jimmer” (Jessica) Trumbley II, and Todd Trumbley all from Saint Joseph; her grandchildren, Katie, Megan, Jake, Sara, Jessica, Cooper, and Reagan; her brother, George Toler; many sister and brother in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, along with too many friends to mention that span over her 73 years of life.

We Love You Most!!!
