Marjorie Borton, 91, of Stevensville, formerly of Tucson, AZ, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at the Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Deepdale Memorial Park Chapel, 4108 Old Lansing Rd., Lansing, MI 48917. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Tucson, AZ, the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan or Project Linus. Marjorie was born July 9, 1923, in Ithaca, MI, to Roy and Lottie Marzolf on their farm. She attended Herron Country School in grades 1-8 and graduated from Holt High School in 1942. She married Weldon Borton on May 13, 1944, in Holt, MI. Marjorie was a secretary for the State of Michigan Treasury. She was a member of the Holt UMC from 1936-1994 and served as Assistant Cherub Choir Director from 1955-1965. She also served as President of the Methodist Women’s Society. Marjorie was a member of the Catalina UMC and Homebuilder’s Sunday School Class in Arizona. She enjoyed knitting and knitted approximately 75 blankets for the Project Linus.
She is survived by her husband Weldon; son David (Mary Ann) Borton, Lake Leelanau, MI; daughter Deborah Quist, St. Joseph, MI; grandchildren Kristen Savage , Andrea Lynn, and Bethany Bertels; great-grandchildren Tyler Savage, Zachary Savage, Monica Lynn, James Lynn, Elinor Lynn and Sam Bertels.
Marjorie was preceded in death by a son James Weldon Borton; brothers Wayne Marzolf and Wendell Marzolf; and sister Olive Pauline Fors.
