Mary Louise Bartucci Ketelhut Green Obituary

Mary Louise Bartucci Ketelhut Green, 87, of Eau Claire passed away in her home following an extended illness. Mary’s life began on May 31, 1933, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was the daughter of Helen Kerlikowski, and adoptive daughter of Louis and Edna (Hubbard) Bartucci. Mary graduated from Stevensville High School in 1951 and was chosen to represent Blossomtime as Miss Stevensville in 1952. Mary retired from Palisades Nuclear Plant on Jan. 31, 1996 after 15 years. She was married to Clarence Green for 46 years.

Mary was very active in the community. She was a past member of the Coloma Band Boosters and Coloma Athletic Boosters; served on the Coloma Queen Committee, the Blossomtime Queen Committee and the Miss Southwest Michigan Scholarship Program; and was a former 4-H leader. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s events. Mary’s passion was for the forgotten animals that needed attention and homes. She fostered and adopted out over 280 dogs with Animal Aid of Southwestern Michigan and Save a Stray. She adopted several dogs herself: Sammie, Buster, Tiny, and Jill. Most recently she fostered and adopted a senior dog, Dutchess, from Berrien County Animal Control. Mary specialized in the care of puppies, often bottle-feeding newborns every two hours around the clock for weeks.

Mary is survived by her caring family –  daughters Janis Clark of Stevensville and Anna Mary (Ronald) Piontek of Ohio, son Lance Green of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Ryan (Savanna) Clark, Stephanie (Jared) Poeppelman, Brandon (Becky) Clark, Adrianna Piontek, Avery Green, and Meredith Green; and two great-granddaughters, Ashlynn Clark and Chloe Clark.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Clancy, in 2003; her son Lou Ketelhut; her birth mother Helen Kerlikowski; her adoptive parents Edna and Louis Bartucci, and her special longtime canine companion of 12 years, Sammie.

It is undeniable that Mary was an inspiration to all who knew her. Join the family to celebrate the life of Mary Louise Green.
