Robert “Bob” Shembarger

Robert “Bob” Shembarger, 77, of Berrien Center, MI passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs. Friends may visit from 6:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. Monday March 3, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston TX. Those wishing to share a memory of Bob online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Bob was born October 11, 1936 in Benton Harbor, MI to Maurice & Elfrieda (Richter) Shembarger. On May 30, 1958 he married Betty Dohm in Berrien Center. Bob was a police officer for the Benton Township Department. He also worked in sales and construction. Bob was a member of the Benton Harbor Elks, Moose Lodge, and the Baroda and Berrien Springs American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed  deer hunting, cooking and watching westerns on TV. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer and University of Michigan Fan. Most of all, he loved to socialize with his friends at the legions and spend time with his family at home. Bob is survived by his wife Betty Shembarger of Berrien Center; children Pamela Koziel of Bridgman, Marcia (Rick) Hutter of Chelsea, MI and Michael (Sarah) Shembarger of Berrien Springs; five grandchildren Matt and Scott Shembarger, Daniel and Macy Koziel and Emily Hankins; three great grandchildren Kamdyn, Kennedy and Maddex; brothers Richard (Vicki) Shembarger of Berrien Springs, and Allen (Teresa) Shembarger of Berrien Center; sister-in-law Joan Shembarger of Berrien Center; and his grand dogs. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gerald & Donald Shembarger.
